We grow our own popcorn. It saves a few dollars a year, and it makes great decoration in fall. The flavor beats out every commercial brand I’ve ever tried. This variety is mauveless red. It grows the same as sweet corn. To get your popcorn dried enough to pop, leave it on the stalk until after the first frost (give it a few frosts if you’d like). Then harvest it and put the cobs in mesh bags. Hang the bags for another month in a cool, dry area. We shell all the cobs at once and store in a mason jar in the pantry, but you can keep the popcorn on the cob for a fun presentation on movie night.
