Copycat Twix Bars
So who doesn't love a Twix bar? What I don't love is the price and the preservatives. Here is my copycat recipe that makes dozens of candy bars.
Ingredients
Cookie
- 1 1/2 Cup Softened Butter
- 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 3 Cup Flour
- 3/4 tsp Salt
Carmel
- 15 oz Unwrapped carmels or carmel bits
- 2 tsp Evaporated Milk you can substitute warm water
Chocolate
- 1/2 lb chocolate almond bark
- 1/2 bag Semi sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Cookies
- Preheat oven to 350 F
- Cream the butter and sugar together
- Add vanilla, flour and salt and mix well
- Roll out on floured surface to 1/2" thick
- Cut into desired shape/size, a pizza cutter works great for rectangles or squares
- Bake on a parchment lined cookie sheet for 14-16 minutes
- Remove from parchment to cooling rack and let fully cool before topping
Carmel Layer
- Slowly melt carmels and milk (or water) in a double boiler or a bowl set into a pan of water on stove. Melt until all the lumps are gone.
- Using a small spoon or knife, spread a layer of carmel on top of the cookie
- Allow to cool before adding chocolate layer
Chocolate Layer
- Melt chocolate in double boiler or a bowl set into a pan of water on stove
- Spread a layer of chocolate on top of the carmel layer
Notes
Store in an airtight container for 2 weeks. Depending on the size of your cookies, you can get 3 dozen or more bars.
